nEW mOOD aND iNSPIRATION......

 

 



Here are a couple of photo boards I've been working on as inspiration and research for my new collection.

Maintaining the structural element of my previous collection with more focus on minimalism.

The basis and theme for this new collection is form, space and line. Having focused on these particular concepts in the study for my thesis I want to further my thesis research and findings and now focus on them for my design work.

 

 

 



 

 

The images I have used have been taken by me in various locations. I like to capture ordinary things in a unique abstract way. Although I am usually drawn mainly to structural and architectural forms I have been experimenting also with minimal imagery and photography.

In the collection of images above I have focused on softer, more minimal aspects of design. Maintaining a linear theme there are softer elements that are new themes within my research. The linearity of the first image is then complemented in the second softer minimal image followed by movement of form to minimal structure. I feel this fourth image combines the elements in each of the previous photos.



 

 

 

 

 

This second collection on images is more like my previous moods, with more of a focus on structure, however I have aimed to include the themes of form, space and line in a more subtle way. I think the linearity aspect is obvious. I have tried to reflect form in abstract ways showing form in cube like structures. I like experimenting with perspective and view points.

 

The next process in my new project is to start designing!! I will be getting some rough silhouettes down on paper soon and post with some exciting design ideas.

 

I am also continuing with my bag designs and they will be accessories for this new collection.

 



bAG dESIGN

This is a oversized clutch I made for my final collection. It's been sat in a cupboard and I'm wondering why I haven't used it before now?!? I'm in the process of designing a new range of clutch bags big and small so if you like this one keep an eye on this spot for new designs coming soon!!
The designs will be based around minimalism and structure. Colours will be dark with either pop brights or a touch of white and pastel....

mY dESIGNS, mY pHOTOGRAPHY....

I've been working on some new ideas that are incorporating my designs from my graduate collection mixed with some of my latest photography.

 

 

 

The image below I have taken a catwalk image and layered it with a photograph I took. Its an image of some stairs leading into the sea, its linear minimal and abstract.

 

 

 

 

The image below is again the same catwalk image (obviously my favourite!) the layered image is from the LULU LUI backstage show that I was working at and managed to sneak a few pics for my work. The linear image beneath is an abstraction of another one of my photography images. I particularly like the minimalistic mood on this board and the colour palette that is taking place. I'm going to try something new with colours though and I think this is too similar to my usual palette. Might try something new soon!

New inspiration pics..

 

 

I've been taking pics for new inspiration, it is a continuation of my graduate collection just more sleek and clean. I'm thinking I might try some truly minimal designs, simple lines and minimal detail focusing on shapes taken from my grad collection and re worked into wearable outerwear....

 

 

 

 

 

 

I am really drawn to structure and architecture, however I like to put my own abstract and obscure angle on things.... Above is a picture taken of the bottom of the Shard building in London. An amazing structure but looking closer even the details and linearity at the bottom is beautiful in my eye....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The above picture was taken from a window at the Freemasons Hall in Queen Street London. I was a dresser for a London Fashion Week show there and saw it as an opportunity to take some pics and just so happened to see this out the window! Again I'm drawn to the linear details and obscurity of this otherwise bland architecture... 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The above was taken inside the fashion show venue (Freemasons Hall) and I loved the mix of the old paintings with such a modern twist with the structure of the lights and framework ready for the show.....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This final pic was taken on Oxford St London. It kind of speaks for itself... Linear, structure, reflection, its got it all!! I also love the colours and will be reverting back to this when I come to colour palette decisions....

 

finaL collectioN

I haven't posted on here for awhile but I intend to keep it a bit more up to date from now on! Having completed my final collection and show cased it on the catwalk at Free Range graduate shows I am now considering a new collection of uni sex tailored jackets and coats as well as some accompanying garments. I have also been working on some new bag designs and will be uploading some pics of these new designs soon so stay tuned for things to come.... For now though here are some much belated pics from the fashion show, and my final design work for my graduate collection...

I think this is one of my favourite outfits of the collection, the simple and minimal design gives off a flattering silhouette. Sometimes the simpler the better....

Lineup Development

 

Here is an image of my lineup from a previous module. My feedback indicated that it was a bit too painterly which wasn’t allowing it to flow with the rest of my research and designs, Although I like to make my illustrations quiet abstract and show a definite and distinct style, I realise this was not connecting well with the rest of my work….. back to the drawing board!

 Above is another idea I produced as my lineup, I took the images I had taken from my toiles and used  photoshop to place the outfits on skeletons. This was an idea that came about when my theme was based more on the body and internal structure. I have since developed my theme and research away from this so the skeleton lineup doesn't reflect my developed theme and designs however I do like the idea.

 

This is the latest lineup illustration I have done. I have thought on the feedback I had received and worked in a new way to develop a lineup style that connects and responds well to my designs. I have used my original illustrations and instead of painting the colour in I have colour blocked them and used my technical flats also colour blocked to give another layer and dimension. I think it still reflects my abstract style but has become more linear and spatial which reflects the designs.

tHE bEGINNING.....

                       This is the first outfit of my final graduate collection entitled "iNTROSPECTION".

 

An Autumn/ Winter 2013/14 collection.

 

 

I have taken inspiration form the title word, introspection, it's definition being " The examination or observation of one's own mental and emotional processes.

 

 

Constructivism in another inspiration and theme for this collection, I have taken inspiration mostly from the sculptor Naum Gabo who's works are based around the precise analysis of the structure of form and its internal spatial implications.

 

 

I have used these themes within my designs to create linear, spatial tailoring with unique silhouettes creating space and renewed shapes around the human form.

 

 

 

These images are from a collection of boards I have created using the images from the photoshoot with inspirational images I have used within my research. The above background is my own image the others are of images taked of the Sydney Opera House which has been a more recent inspiration in my designs. The structure and linear architecture tie in well with my design process and it's also adding a touch of my background!
